  • Abstract
Purpoe To decribe baeline clinical characteritic of a cohort of 80 patient with birdhot chorioretinopathy in anticipation of a longitudinal tudy, and to identify relationhip between viual acuity, ymptom, and ophthalmic finding. Deign ingle-center cro-ectional tudy. Method A tandardized examination wa performed in the ame order on a ingle day for each patient. A grading ytem for birdhot leion wa etablihed propectively to evaluate the following leion characteritic: quantity, ditribution, morphology, and pigmentation. Relationhip between clinical feature of dieae were ought in multivariate analye that adjuted for age, duration of uveiti, and treatment. Reult Mean age at baeline examination wa 55.6 year. Median bet-corrected viual acuity (BCVA) wa 0.8 (range, counting finger to 1.2). There were no relationhip between BCVA and any birdhot leion characteritic. The mot common caue of BCVA ≤0.4 wa macular edema. Viual ymptom were preent in 78 patient (97.5%), including 17 (94.4%) of 18 patient with BCVA ≥1.0 in both eye. Blurred viion wa aociated with decreaed BCVA (P = .02) and macular edema (P = .022). Increaed leion pigmentation wa aociated with complaint of blurred viion (P = .030), vibrating viion (P = .011), and nyctalopia (P = .056). Concluion ymptom are common in patient with birdhot chorioretinopathy, even among thoe with good BCVA. Leion pigmentation may be a marker of decreaed viual function that i not reflected in central viual acuity. Thee finding highlight the limitation of uing viual acuity meaurement for monitoring patient with birdhot chorioretinopathy and a an outcome meaure for tudie of thi dieae.
