Reult of Deep Lamellar Keratoplaty Uing the Big-bubble Technique in Patient With Keratoconu

Purpoe To evaluate the efficacy of deep lamellar keratoplaty uing the big-bubble technique in patient with keratoconu. Deign Interventional cae erie. Method Thirteen eye of 12 patient (eight male and four female ubject) with moderate to advanced keratoconu and intolerance to contact len wear were included in thi tudy. Deep lamellar keratoplaty wa performed by the intratromal air injection technique. Full-thickne donor tiue devoid of Decemet membrane and endothelium wa then utured into place. Bet-corrected viual acuity, refractive reult, urgical technique, and complication rate were analyzed. Reult Big bubble wa uccefully achieved in nine eye (69.2%). Average potoperative bet-corrected viual acuity wa 20/25 (range 20/50 to 20/20) at a mean follow-up of 5 month. Intraoperative microperforation of Decemet membrane occurred in two eye (15.3%). Three eye (23%) developed a teroid-induced increae in intraocular preure, which reponded to medical therapy. Concluion Deep lamellar keratoplaty that ue the big-bubble technique i afe and effective in patient with keratoconu. Viual outcome i comparable to tandard penetrating keratoplaty, without the rik of endothelial rejection.
