Abstract :
Purpoe: To ae the change in corneal power and refraction due to equential uture removal after penetrating keratoplaty (PK). Deign Retropective conecutive cae erie. Method etting: Clinical practice. tudy population: We tudied 67 phakic keratoconu eye (central excimer laer trephination, primary keratoplaty, graft/recipient diameter 8.1/8.0 mm; double running uture) in thi longitudinal tudy. main outcome meaure: Zei keratometry (equivalent power (KEQ), atigmatim (KAT)), corneal topography (equivalent power (TEQ), atigmatim (TAT)) and ubjective refractometry (pherical equivalent (EQ), refractive cylinder (RAT)) were aeed with uture in place (interval 1), with one uture out (interval 2), and with all uture out (interval 3). obervation procedure: Corneal power and refraction wa decompoed into vector component and the change were derived between time tage. Reult The mean follow-up period wa 3.9 ± 1.7 year. At interval 1, the axe of KAT/TAT/RAT were almot randomly ditributed. At interval 2, the with/againt the rule component of KAT/TAT/RAT decreaed lightly and the oblique component increaed ignificantly, o that the axe tended to have a preferred oblique direction. At interval 3, the with/againt the rule component of KAT/TAT/RAT increaed lightly and the oblique component decreaed ignificantly, o that the with/againt the rule component exceeded the oblique component by approximately 23%/28%/25%. Median KEQ/TEQ/EQ changed by 0.64/0.62/−1.11 diopter (interval 1 to interval 2) and by −0.85/−0.90/1.56 diopter (interval 2 to interval 3). Concluion A a reult of removal of the firt running uture, corneal atigmatim a well a the refractive cylinder tend to oblique axe. A a reult of removal of the econd running uture, the final corneal atigmatim and refractive cylinder tend to orientation axe with/againt the rule.
