Abstract :
Purpoe To characterize the clinical feature and therapeutic outcome of tromal keratiti aociated with yphili in adult. Deign Obervational cae erie. Method We examined the clinical and laboratory record at a ingle center of individual with active tromal keratiti who had erological evidence of yphili by a treponemal pecific tet. Reult Five patient, 36 to 81 year of age, developed tromal keratiti during late yphili. One patient with developmental ign of congenital yphili had bilateral tromal keratiti. The other were otherwie healthy when they preented with unilateral, nonulcerative, infiltrative keratiti with tromal edema of the peripheral or paracentral cornea and mild to moderate corneal vacularization. All had an appropriate repone to topical corticoteroid therapy, and two recovered good viion. tromal keratiti recurred in two patient month to year later. Concluion Nonulcerative tromal keratiti preent in adult with yphili a marginal, central, or multifocal tromal inflammation with neovacularization that repond to corticoteroid therapy but occaionally recur.
