Abstract :
Purpoe
To verify the hort-term influence of an orally adminitered nonteroidal anti-inflammatory drug on the intraocular preure (IOP) of primary open-angle glaucoma patient in therapy with a topical protaglandin analog.
Deign
Randomized cro-over double-blind tudy.
Method
ixteen adult with primary open-angle glaucoma, receiving 0.005% latanoprot eyedrop once daily, were treated with a ingle doe of either 100 mg nimeulide or placebo. IOP wa recorded at baeline and at 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, and 24 hour.
Reult
After nimeulide adminitration, there wa a decreae in IOP (with a fall at the econd hour, P < .01) that remained ignificant 8 hour later (P < .05). At 12 and 24 hour, there were unremarkable IOP difference between the two regimen.
Concluion
In patient with primary open-angle glaucoma, ingle-doe nimeulide ignificantly enhance the latanoprot-induced IOP-lowering effect during the hort plama half-life of thi non-teroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
