Abstract :
Purpoe
To oberve and document the daily change in the morphology of Elchnig pearl.
Deign
A propective cohort tudy.
Method
Twenty-nine peudophakic eye with pronounced, regeneratory poterior capule opacification (PCO) were included in thi propective tudy. Retroillumination image were taken at day 0, 1, 2, and 14. A quare grid wa laid over the image. Increae, decreae, appearance, and diappearance of pearl between the follow-up image were quantified.
Reult
A total of 1371 area (mean: 53/eye) of 26 eye were analyzed between day 0 and 1 and 1 and 2, and 896 area (50/eye) of 18 eye between day 0 and 14. Between day 0 and 1, day 1 and 2, and day 0 and 14, we oberved “no change” in pearl ize in 72%, 77%, and 32%, a “minor increae” in 16%, 14%, and 10%, a “major increae” in 4%, 3%, and 42%, a “minor decreae” in 14%, 11%, and 11%, and a “major decreae” in 4%, 3%, and 37%, repectively. Appearance of newly formed pearl wa found in 1%, 1%, and 9% and diappearance of pearl in 1%, 1%, and 5%, repectively.
Concluion
ignificant change in the morphology of Elchnig pearl were oberved within time interval of only 24 hour. Appearance and diappearance of pearl, a well a progreion and regreion of pearl within thee hort interval illutrate the dynamic behavior of regeneratory PCO. Thee finding may contribute to a better undertanding of PCO and have implication on pharmaceutical intervention for PCO.
