Abstract :
Purpoe
To define the prevalence, natural hitory, treatment, and prognoi of papilledema-related juxtapapillary ubretinal neovacular membrane (RNVM).
Deign
Retropective obervational cae erie.
Method
We conducted a retropective chart review.
Reult
Of 1140 cae of idiopathic intracranial hypertenion, ix patient had juxtapapillary RNVM. Three patient were oberved, and their final viual acuitie were 20/20, 20/50, and 20/200. Three RNVM involved the fovea; two of the cae were treated with argon laer therapy, and one cae wa treated with photodynamic therapy.
Concluion
RNVM in idiopathic intracranial hypertenion i rare (0.53%). Mot cae of juxtapapillary RNVM are elf-limited and regre, can be oberved, and have a favorable viual prognoi. The progreion of the RNVM ophthalmocopically or angiographically toward the fovea, however, might be an indication for laer treatment. Once ubfoveal extenion occur, the viual outcome tend to be unfavorable. No patient had recurrence of RNVM after the reolution of the papilledema.
