Abstract :
Purpoe To compare polymerae chain reaction (PCR) reult to preumptive clinical diagnoi in patient with vitriti. Deign Retropective review of PCR laboratory record from vitreou ample. Method Fifty conecutive laboratory record of vitreou ample ent for PCR teting were reviewed. Three reviewer with uveiti training ranked the clinical upicion of a pecific diagnoi uing a claification ytem (cale of 1 to 4) and were maked to the PCR reult. Reult The degree of clinical upicion of a particular diagnoi wa ignificantly aociated with a poitive PCR reult (P = .048). Higher clinical upicion wa ignificantly more aociated with a poitive PCR reult compared with cae with lower clinical upicion (P = .01). Concluion If the clinical upicion of a pecific diagnoi i low, the PCR for any infectiou etiology i unlikely to be poitive.
