  • Abstract
Purpoe To ae prognotic value of the ocular trauma core (OT) in deadly weapon–related open-globe injurie. Deign Retropective, interventional cae erie. Method In 82 patient (88 eye) with deadly weapon-related open-globe injurie, certain numerical value rendered to the OT variable (viual acuity, rupture, endophthalmiti, perforating injury, retinal detachment, afferent pupillary defect) at preentation were ummated and converted into OT categorie. The likelihood of the final viual acuitie in the OT categorie were calculated and compared with thoe in the OT tudy. Reult The likelihood of the final viual acuitie (no light perception NLP, light perception LP/hand motion HM, 1/200 to 19/200, 20/200 to 20/50, and ≥20/40) in the OT categorie (1 through 5) in thi group were imilar to thoe in the OT tudy group except for LP/HM in the category-2 (53% v 26%, P < .001). No tudy eye wa in the category-5 (the bet prognoi). Concluion OT calculated at initial examination may provide prognotic information in deadly weapon–related open-globe injurie.
