Abstract
Purpoe
To report an extrafoveal poterior retinal hole after urgical removal of foveal epiretinal membrane.
Deign
Obervational cae report.
Method
We decribe two patient who underwent vitrectomy urgery with an epiretinal membrane removal. Five month after viion improving urgery, a mall retinal hole outide the macular area developed.
Reult
Fundu photography and optical coherence tomography howed a full-thickne retinal hole with a urrounding cuff of ubretinal fluid maller than decribed in tage III or IV macular hole. The hole ha been table in hape and dimenion, ha not progreed to retinal detachment, and i not aociated with an epiretinal membrane; the fluid i not impinging on the macular area.
Concluion
Aymptomatic full-thickne extrafoveal retinal hole, which do not progre to neuroenory detachment, can develop after epiretinal membrane peeling. Thee appear table and have ubtantially maller cuff of ubretinal fluid than typical macular hole.
