Treatment of Herpe implex Viru tromal Keratiti Unreponive to Topical Predniolone 1% With Topical Cycloporine 0.05%

Purpoe To ae the efficacy of topical cycloporine 0.05% (Retai) in patient with herpe implex viru nonnecrotizing tromal keratiti unreponive to topical predniolone. Deign Propective cae erie. Method Patient with herpe implex viru tromal keratiti (n = 12) that wa unreponive to topical predniolone acetate 1% for at leat four week were evaluated at a ingle ite. Eye were treated with topical cycloporine twice a day and begun on a rapid predniolone taper. Viual acuity, lit-lamp appearance, intraocular preure, and corneal enitivity were evaluated every two week for at leat three month. Reult tromal keratiti reolved with cycloporine in 10 of 12 patient after one month. The mean leion area decreaed more with cycloporine than with predniolone (2.0 mm with cycloporine compared with 0.25 mm with predniolone). After topping cycloporine therapy, four patient had recurrence of tromal keratiti. Concluion Thi erie ugget that herpe implex viru tromal keratiti can be treated effectively with topical cycloporine, particularly in cae that are not reponive to topical predniolone.
