Abstract :
Purpoe
Evaluate the viual performance of the Acryof ReTOR intraocular len (IOL) and compare it with the monofocal A60AT IOL.
Deign
Propective, nonrandomized, clinical trial.
Method
Forty patient (80 eye) from the Federal Univerity of ão Paulo were enrolled in two group. Twenty-five patient were aigned to the ReTOR group and 15 patient to the monofocal group. Incluion criteria were corneal atigmatim <1.0 diopter, potential acuity meter >0.2 logMAR unit, and no aociated ocular dieae. Parameter analyzed included ditance uncorrected and bet-corrected viual acuity, near uncorrected and ditance corrected viual acuity, intermediate viual acuity, contrat enitivity (Pelli-Robon chart), tereopi (Titmu tet), reading peed, wavefront meaurement (LADARWave aberrometer), and a quality-of-life quetionnaire. main outcome meaure: Ditance and near uncorrected and bet ditance corrected viual acuity, contrat enitivity, and reading peed.
Reult
Ditance uncorrected and bet-corrected viual acuity in the ReTOR group were not tatitically different from the monofocal group (P = .66). Near uncorrected and ditance corrected viual acuity were tatitically better in the ReTOR group than the monofocal group (0.16 ± 0.13 v 0.62 ± 0.09, P < .001, and 0.14 ± 0.12 v 0.62 ± 0.07, P < .001, repectively). The ReTOR group demontrated le pherical aberration compared with the monofocal group (P < .001). Monocular photopic contrat enitivity wa tatitically lower in the ReTOR group (P < .001). tereopi and reading peed were not tatitically different between the group.
Concluion
The Acryof ReTOR IOL provide a atifactory full range of viion and achieve a more atifactory quality of life when compared with the monofocal A60AT IOL, but with lower contrat enitivity.
