Abstract :
Purpoe
To compare clinical outcome between the IntraLae femtoecond laer and the mechanical microkeratome for creating flap during laer in itu keratomileui.
Deign
Nonrandomized clinical trial.
Method
The tudy involved a total of 55 eye of 30 patient, with 27 eye of 16 patient compriing the microkeratome group and 28 eye of 14 patient compriing the IntraLae group. Refractive error, viual acuity, higher-order aberration, contrat enitivity, and corneal enitivity were compared between the two group.
Reult
There were no tatitically ignificant difference between the two group in term of refractive error and potoperative uncorrected viual acuity. There wa no lo of bet-corrected viual acuity in either group. The higher-order aberration were imilar in both group (P > .05), except for pherical aberration, which wa greater in the microkeratome group (P < .05). In the IntraLae group, the contrat enitivity value at 12 and 18 cycle per degree under meopic condition wa ignificantly improved at three month potoperatively (P < .05). The IntraLae group howed fater corneal enitivity recovery compared with the microkeratome group, and corneal enitivity in the peripheral area wa nearly normalized at three month potoperatively in the IntraLae group.
Concluion
The femtoecond laer may have advantage over the microkeratome in the flap-making procedure. However, the IntraLae femtoecond laer failed to have ignificant uperiority over the mechanical microkeratome in clinical outcome, except for fater recovery of corneal enation, leer degree of pherical aberration, and ome contrat enitivity value.
