Intravitreal Triamcinolone for the Treatment of Ichemic Macular Edema Aociated With Branch Retinal Vein Occluion Original Reearch Article

Purpoe To evaluate the afety and efficacy of intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide (IVTA) for ichemic macular edema aociated with branch retinal vein occluion (BRVO) and foveal ichemia. Deign Propective interventional cae erie. Method etting: Clinical practice. tudy population: Eighteen eye of 18 patient with macular edema aociated with BRVO and foveal ichemia. intervention: Four mg IVTA. main outcome meaure: Viual acuity (VA), optical coherence tomography, macular thickne meaurement, and treatment-related complication. Reult The mean duration of BRVO before treatment wa 14 month. All patient were followed for a minimum of nine month, and 12 patient completed 12 month follow-up. The mean logarithm of the minimum angle of reolution (logMAR) VA improved ignificantly from 0.81 ± 0.36 at baeline to 0.65 ± 0.30 at one month (P = .03) but did not vary ignificantly from baeline at three, ix, nine, and 12 month. Macular thickne improved ignificantly in all eye from a mean of 400 ± 134 μm preinjection, to 228 ± 58 μm at one month (P < .01) and 256 ± 121 μm at three month (P < .01) but did not vary ignificantly from baeline at ix, nine, and 12 month. Eight eye developed poterior ubcapular cataract, intraocular preure (IOP) exceeded 21 mm Hg in four eye, and two eye developed vitreomacular traction during follow-up. Concluion IVTA i effective in reducing ichemic macular edema aociated with BRVO and foveal capillary nonperfuion. Thi reduction i often aociated with a temporary improvement in VA. Raied IOP and development of poterior ubcapular cataract are diadvantage of thi treatment.
