Purpoe
To evaluate the efficacy of ingle-egment Intac and compare with double-egment Intac in ubject with pot-LAIK ectaia and keratoconu.
Deign
Retropective comparative analyi.
Method
etting: Boxer Wachler Viion Intitute, Beverly Hill, California, UA. tudy population: Thirty-even eye of 28 patient with keratoconu and pot-LAIK ectaia claified into two group: ingle-egment group (17 eye, 11 patient) and double-egment group (20 eye, 17 patient). Both group were matched for age, viual acuity (uncorrected, UCVA; bet pectacle-corrected, BCVA), refractive error (phere, cylinder, pherical equivalent), and keratometry (K) value (flat, teep, average) by t tet for equality of mean. intervention: ingle- or double-egment Intac procedure with axi of inciion for inertion in the teep axi of manifet refraction. main outcome meaure: Improvement of acuity, refractive error, K value, and inferior-uperior (I-) ratio.
Reult
There wa more improvement in UCVA in the ingle-egment group (nine line) than the double-egment group (2.5 line), P < .01; in BCVA in the ingle-egment group (2.5 line) than the double-egment group (<1 line), P < .01; in teep K value in the ingle-egment group (2.76 diopter ± 2.68) than the double-egment group (0.93 diopter ± 2.01), P = .02; and in I- ratio in the ingle-egment group (9.51 ± 7.49) than the double-egment group (4.22 ± 4.82), P = .01; and greater cylinder decreae after Holladay vector analyi in the ingle-egment group (5.69 diopter ± 3.10) than the double-egment group (1.58 diopter ± 3.09), P < .01.
Concluion
ingle-egment Intac improved both UCVA and BCVA by differential flattening of inferior meridian and teepening of uperior meridian a reflected by change in I- ratio.
