Abstract :
Purpoe
To report a cae of recurrent idiopathic macular hole after pontaneou cloure in a previouly vitrectomized eye.
Deign
Cae report.
Method
A 69-year-old woman who had had vitrectomy for vitreou hemorrhage even year earlier preented with decreaed viual acuity and a macular hole. The hole pontaneouly reolved within four month. One year later, the macular hole reopened. Internal limiting membrane peeling wa performed, reulting in return of viual acuity. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) wa obtained during all viit.
Reult
Initial OCT revealed a macular hole with perifoveal cytoid degeneration and bridging element. At ubequent viit, OCT howed reolution of the cytoid degeneration. The preoperative OCT demontrate recurrence of the macular hole with imilar perifoveal abnormalitie.
Concluion
After vitrectomy, anteropoterior vitreofoveal traction aociated with mot macular hole formation doe not apply. OCT demontrate foveal tructure and force coincident with hole formation and reolution. Dynamic interaction between tenile and degenerative force, and proliferative and reparative glial element, may lead to hole remodeling.
