Abstract :
Purpoe
To report the onet of bilateral angle cloure glaucoma reulting from ciliochoroidal effuion noted after taking ecitalopram.
Deign
Cae report.
Method
A 41-year-old woman with a medical hitory of depreion wa placed on ecitalopram and preented with acute bilateral angle cloure glaucoma. A medical hitory and ophthalmic examination (including lit-lamp photography and high-frequency ultraonography) were performed at the time of diagnoi and at reolution of her ymptom.
Reult
High-frequency ultraonography revealed bilateral choroidal effuion with ciliary body detachment and angle cloure. Attempt to reduce intraocular preure with topical ocular antihypertenive drug and ubequent laer peripheral iridotomy were unucceful. Over the coure of four day, the ue of topical cycloplegic, corticoteroid, and dicontinuation of ecitalopram reulted in normalization of intraocular preure, deepening of anterior chamber depth, and reolution of her uveal effuion.
Concluion
The ue of ecitalopram reulted in uveal effuion, angle rotation, and acute bilateral angle cloure glaucoma. Dicontinuation of ecitalopram and corticoteroid therapy reulted in normalization of the patient’ eye.
