Abstract
Purpoe
To detect Chlamydia pneumoniae (C. pneumoniae) gene in a patient with bilateral orbital muoca-aociated lymphoid tiue (MALT) lymphoma.
Deign
Interventional cae report.
Method
A 47-year-old Chinee man with recurrent bilateral orbital mae underwent urgical biopy. Ophthalmologic and radiographic examination, routine hitology, immunohitochemitry, and molecular analyi for immunoglobulin heavy chain (IgH), bcl-2/IgH gene tranlocation, and Chlamydia gene were performed.
Reult
Pathology revealed orbital MALT lymphoma with B-cell monoclonality. In addition to IgH gene rearrangement, C. pneumoniae DNA wa detected in the lymphoma.
Concluion
The finding of C. pneumoniae molecular ignature in thi cae ugget a poible aociation of Chlamydia and orbital MALT lymphoma. The infection may contribute to the development of the lymphoma.
