Abstract :
Purpoe
To decribe a previouly unreported clinical entity of inferior corneal decompenation occurring a a long-term complication of uperior laer peripheral iridotomy.
Deign
Retropective, noncomparative obervational cae erie.
Method
Chart review of 14 ubject (16 eye) with inferior corneal decompenation.
Reult
All patient were Chinee, mot were female (71.4%), and the mean age wa 69.5 ± 8.1 year. The mean interval from iridotomy to the onet of inferior corneal decompenation wa 66.1 ± 34.0 month. The mot common indication for laer iridotomy wa for prophylaxi, either in the fellow eye of acute angle cloure (43.8%) or for occludable angle (12.5%).
Concluion
Corneal decompenation in the inferior part of the cornea at a ite remote from the iridotomy i a rare but important complication of laer iridotomy. Becaue many of the laer iridotomie were performed prophylactically in eye without glaucoma, patient may need to be warned of thi rik.
