Deign
Retropective, obervational, noncomparative cae erie of HIV-infected patient with ophthalmic complaint and/or with advanced dieae (CD4+ cell count < 200), een between the year 1993 to 2005 at tertiary care ophthalmic and AID care hopital.
Method
Each patient underwent a complete ophthalmic examination and relevant laboratory and radiologic invetigation and wa treated accordingly. The tudy wa carried out in thi cohort to decribe the ocular manifetation of TB. The main outcome meaure were to decribe the clinical coure hitopathologic and molecular biologic feature of ocular leion attributable to tuberculoi in AID patient in our center.
Reult
Ocular TB wa een in 15 (1.95%) out of 766 conecutive cae of HIV/AID. Nineteen eye of 15 patient were affected. Four cae (26.66%) had bilateral preentation. CD4+ cell count were done in 14 patient; the count ranged from 14 to 560 cell/μl–mean 160.85 cell/μl.
Concluion
Ocular TB in AID i relatively rare and can occur even at CD4+ cell count greater than 200 cell/μl. It can have varied preentation with evere ight-threatening complication.
