Abstract :
Purpoe To determine whether canning laer polarimetry with variable corneal compenation (GDx-VCC) or optical coherence tomography (OCT) i helpful for the analyi of the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickne in glaucoma ubject with tilted dik. Deign Retropective cae-control tudy. Method We included 21 glaucomatou eye with tilted dik and 35 glaucomatou eye without tilted dik. Peripapillary RNFL thickne meaurement by GDx-VCC and OCT, and alo viual field teting with a Humphrey Field Analyzer program 30-2 (HFA) were performed in all ubject. Reult In the group without tilted dik, the RNFL thickne value obtained with GDx-VCC and OCT analyi had a good correlation with mean deviation (MD), and clearly howed tage-dependent reduction. Converely, in the group with tilted dik, a dicrepancy in the RNFL meaurement between GDx-VCC and OCT wa oberved. The correlation of RNFL meaurement to the viual field wa further examined at each hemifield (uperior and inferior). In the group without tilted dik, the meaurement of both intrument at each hemifield were in good correlation with the mean pattern deviation value. However, in the group with tilted dik, the GDx-VCC derived value did not correlate with the viual field defect in both hemifield, wherea OCT wa in good aociation with both mean pattern deviation value. Infrared image acquired with a wavelength of nearly 780 nm revealed a high reflex from the clera in the tilted dik. Concluion Our tudy ha uggeted that RNFL analyi by OCT i more uitable for the glaucoma aement in the tilted dik compared with GDx-VCC.
