Abstract :
Purpoe To compare the efficacy and afety of 25-gauge vitrectomy with 20-gauge vitrectomy for macular pucker. Deign Randomized clinical tudy. Method ixty-even eye (67 patient) with macular pucker were propectively and randomly aigned to undergo 20-gauge vitrectomy or 25-gauge vitrectomy a a control group. Main outcome meaurement conited of bet-corrected viual acuity (BCVA), mean induced atigmatim, total operation time, and potoperative complication. Reult The mean BCVA at baeline and at one month and ix month after urgery wa 20/78, 20/62, and 20/42, repectively, in the 20-gauge group, and 20/85, 20/45, and 20/40 in the 25-gauge group. A ignificant difference in change in the logarithm of the minimal angle of reolution of BCVA between 20-gauge and 25-gauge wa found at one month (−0.10 v −0.269, P < .001), but not at ix month (−0.327 v −0.276, P > .01). Concluion If fater viual improvement i deired, 25-gauge vitrectomy may be preferable to 20-gauge vitrectomy for macular pucker.
