Phacoemulification Aociated Corneal Damage Evaluated by Corneal Volume

Purpoe To determine the uefulne of the Pentacam corneal volume aay in the aement of corneal endothelial damage caued by phacoemulification and apiration (PEA). Deign Propective, comparative, obervational cae erie. Method PEA wa performed in 85 eye by three urgeon under different condition. Central cell denity (CD) wa determined uing a pecular microcope before and one month after urgery. Pentacam wa ued before and one day, one week, and one month after urgery to determine 3- and 10-mm corneal volume. Reult For all urgeon, no ignificant difference in the 3-mm corneal volume were noted between the before and one-month after urgery value. However, 10-mm corneal volume at one month were ignificantly higher than preoperative level. No correlation wa noted between the increaing rate of the 10-mm corneal volume and decreaing rate of CD. Concluion Pentacam-determined corneal volume may be ueful in aeing PEA-caued corneal damage.
