Abstract :
Purpoe To preent the microbiologic pectrum and uceptibilitie of iolate in pottraumatic endophthalmiti, and to provide a review of the literature. Deign Retropective conecutive cae erie. Method A review of 1182 conecutive open globe injurie wa performed, identifying 10 patient with culture-proven endophthalmiti. Reult Thirteen organim were iolated from 10 eye with pottraumatic endophthalmiti. Iolated organim included treptococcu pecie (46.2%), coagulae-negative taphylococcu (23.1%), and Bacillu cereu (15.4%). All organim teted were uceptible to vancomycin and tobramycin. The mot commonly iolated organim from an aggregate pottraumatic endophthalmiti pool of 372 cae obtained by literature-baed meta-analyi were coagulae-negative taphylococcu (21.5%) and Bacillu cereu (18.5%). Concluion We report a high prevalence of gram-poitive pathogen and a notable prevalence of Bacillu cereu in pottraumatic endophthalmiti. uceptibility reult ugget that pottraumatic endophthalmiti iolate are generally uceptible to vancomycin and tobramycin.
