Abstract :
Purpoe To determine concentration of intravitreal triamcinolone after ubtenon injection. Deign Propective erie of vitrectomy candidate and laboratory invetigation. Method Twenty eye of 20 patient received ubtenon injection of triamcinolone acetonide, 40 mg, before vitrectomy urgery. Excluion criteria included previou hitory of vitrectomy, triamcinolone injection, and retinal detachment. Poterior ubtenon injection were performed uing the tandard technique. Undiluted vitreou pecimen were obtained at the time of vitrectomy, which wa performed from one to 29 day after ubtenon injection. Intravitreal triamcinolone concentration wa determined by high-performance liquid chromatography. Reult No complication were aociated with ubtenon injection. Intravitreal triamcinolone concentration varied coniderably, from zero in five eye to a high of 4.94 μg/ml. Concluion Intravitreal triamcinolone concentration vary coniderably after ubtenon injection. The finding indicate that ubtenon injection can be a method for adminitering intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide that i comparable, in ome cae, to the level achieved after intravitreal injection.
