Abstract :
Purpoe To report a cae of primary orbital melanoma uccefully managed by cutom-deigned iodine-125 plaque. Deign Cae report. Method A 59-year-old man with no ytemic or econdary melanocytic tumor wa diagnoed with primary orbital melanoma after tranconjunctival inciional biopy. He wa treated with unhielded iodine-125 plaque (90 Gy) that wa utured to the clera. The radiation plan wa calculated to afely target the initial tumor volume and any reidual intracleral or looe orbital melanoma cell that could have been dieminated to the urrounding orbital tiue during inciional biopy. Reult After 66 month’ follow-up, the patient wa till alive with partial remiion of hi liver metatae. Routine orbital magnetic reonance imaging tudie confirmed the lack of orbital recurrence. Concluion Plaque radiotherapy appear to be a reaonable alternative to exenteration or external irradiation for orbital melanoma after biopy confirmation.
