Abstract
Purpoe
To ae how optical coherent tomography 3 (OCT3) image help explain the mechanim of traumatic macular hole formation.
Deign
Obervational cae report.
Method
A patient preented with an altered foveal depreion after a unilateral blunt eye trauma. After four day, the injury developed into an impending macular hole. Follow-up wa done by ophthalmic examination, fundu photography, and OCT3.
Reult
Fundu examination howed a macular edema at firt preentation, with a dot hemorrhage next to the fovea and a perifoveal little yellow ring. Minimal macular edema and a mall foveal depreion were een on OCT3. After four day, an impending hole had formed. The foveal cyt cloed after one month, but ubretinal fluid perited for month. After ix month, full recovery wa oberved.
Concluion
ubclinical foveal change occurred directly after the trauma, preceding macular hole formation. OCT3 allow detection of mall leion, which help explain the pathogenei of traumatic macular hole formation.
