Abstract :
Purpoe
To compare the intraocular fluid leakage rate between 25-gauge (25G) tranconjunctival vitrectomy with cleral tunnel and tandard 25G tranconjunctival vitrectomy.
Deign
ingle-center, retropective, interventional cae erie.
Method
Tranconjunctival vitrectomie were conducted by the ue of only 25G intrument with peripheral vitrectomy. tandard 25G vitrectomy wa conducted in 542 eye and 25G vitrectomy with cleral tunnel in 337 eye. The cleral tunnel wa created by inerting trocar at an oblique angle.
Reult
The intraocular fluid leakage rate wa ignificantly lower (Fiher exact probability tet: P < .0001) when cleral tunnel were ued in 25G vitrectomy (1%, five of 337 eye) compared with tandard 25G vitrectomy (9%, 50 of 542 eye). The wound leakage rate wa ignificantly lower when uing (rather than not) cleral tunnel in 25G vitrectomy, both without air-ga (P = .0258) and with air exchange (P = .0007).
Concluion
The ue of cleral tunnel in 25G tranconjunctival vitrectomy reduce the frequency of wound leakage even when the peripheral vitreou i removed.
