Molecular Epidemiology of Adenoviral Conjunctiviti in Hanoi, Vietnam

Purpoe To invetigate the erotype of adenoviru cauing conjunctiviti in Hanoi, Vietnam. Deign Clinical diagnoi of adenoviral conjunctiviti and laboratory-baed experimental tudy. Method We collected 21 conjunctival wab from 21 different patient with a clinical preentation compatible with adenoviral conjunctiviti, in Hanoi, Vietnam. Immunochromatography and real-time polymerae chain reaction (PCR) were performed to detect human adenoviru (HAdV). The equence of PCR product wa analyzed to determine the erotype of HAdV. Reult Of 21 ample, HAdV DNA wa detected in 14 ample (66.7%) by real-time PCR. The erotype analyi howed HAdV-8 in 11 ample (78.6%), HAdV-3 in two ample (14.3%), and HAdV-37 in one ample (7.1%). Of 11 HAdV-8 ample, one ample (9.1%) wa prototype, and the other 10 ample (90.9%) had identical nucleotide equence and were identified a a variant of HAdV-8. Concluion HAdV-8 wa found to be the predominant erotype in Hanoi, Vietnam. Mot of the HAdV-8 ample were a variant of HAdV-8.
