Abstract :
Purpoe
To report the ix-month reult of ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization that had been treated with combined therapy of high-doe intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide (HDIVTA), photodynamic therapy (PDT), and pegaptanib odium injection.
Deign
Retropective, interventional cae erie tudy.
Method
Medical file of 16 patient with thi treatment were reviewed (22 eye); 13 eye had had previou treatment with HDIVTA and PDT; nine eye were newly diagnoed choroidal neovacularization. Patient were treated with an injection of HDIVTA (10 mg), followed by PDT and pegabtanib odium injection at two-week interval. The main outcome variable were viual acuity (VA) and macular thickne by optical coherence tomography (OCT).
Reult
The mean VA improved 2.2 line (P = .013 in the new treatment group); the previou treatment group (HDIVTA + PDT) improved only 0.7 line (P = 0.55, Wilcoxon ranked tet). The mean of macular thickne before and after treatment wa tatitically ignificant in both group.
Concluion
Thi combination therapy howed improvement and/or tabilization in VA, particularly when ued a firt-line therapy.
