Abstract :
Purpoe To compare the reult of limited macular tranlocation and photodynamic therapy (PDT) in ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization (CNV) attributable to pathologic myopia with a 24-month follow-up. Deign Retropective analyi of nonrandomized interventional clinical tudy. Method Retropective review of 66 conecutive patient: 34 myopic eye with ubfoveal neovacularization treated by PDT and 32 operated on with the tranlocation technique. Tranlocation wa conidered principally when the leion ize wa adequate (naal inferior margin of the membrane le than half a dik diameter away from the center of the fovea) with duration of ymptom of le than four month. Main outcome meaure wa the potoperative change in viual acuity. Reult In the tranlocation group, mean gain in viual acuity wa greater than in the PDT group (+2.8 line and −1.8 line, repectively, P = .001). In the tranlocation group, 55% of eye gained 3 line or more at two year compared with 10% in the PDT group. ixty percent of eye in the tranlocation group v 40% in the PDT group had an improvement of at leat five letter. Mean foveal diplacement after tranlocation wa 906 μm; potoperative complication included retinal detachment (three eye), macular fold (one eye), and tranient diplopia (four eye). In young patient, the potoperative gain wa better in both group. In the tranlocation group, mean urvival time for choroidal neovacularization recurrence wa 40 month for patient younger than 40 year and 20 month for older patient. Concluion Tranlocation howed better reult than PDT at two year. Further tudie are required to confirm thee finding.
