Viual Hallucination After Intravitreal Injection of Bevacizumab in Vacular Age-related Macular Degeneration

Purpoe To decribe tranient tructured viual hallucination in a patient with vacular age-related macular degeneration (AMD), following an intravitreal Avatin-injection. Deign Interventional cae report. Method A fully alert 83-year-old woman with diciform car right eye (OD) and occult choroidal neovacularization (CNV) left eye (O) experienced a progreive viual lo to 20/800 OD and 20/400 O. A coherent 84-year-old woman with occult CNV both eye (OU) experienced decreaed viion of 20/800 OU. After both patient gave informed conent, an uneventful intravitreal injection of 1.25 mg Avatin wa performed in the left eye. Reult One day and three day after an uneventful intravitreal injection both patient experienced tructured hallucination including tree, face, and water for approximately 15 to 30 minute. Concluion We report a typical ymptom of Charle-Bonnet yndrome (CB) in patient with evere AMD after intravitreal Avatin-injection. The reduced retinal edema and realignment of the photoreceptor may promote the releae phenomenon and trigger hallucinatory epiode.
