Abstract :
Purpoe
To etablih the Englih-language verion of the Amblyopia and trabimu Quetionnaire (AQE).
Deign
Propective cohort tudy.
Method
A tructured tranlation proce wa followed to generate the AQE, a 26-item intrument (originally in Dutch) containing five ubcale for fear of loing the better eye, ditance etimation, viual diorientation, double viion, and ocial contact and appearance. The AQE wa adminitered to 150 adult in a private practice etting. All had trabimu with or without amblyopia and viual acuity of 20/50 or better in at leat one eye. ubject alo completed a brief diability quetionnaire, and they were further characterized by level of unilateral viion lo, diplopia, and athenopia.
Reult
AQE core were highly correlated with the diability quetionnaire outcome (r = −.76, P < .0001). Internal conitency reliability (Cronbach α) of the ubcale ranged from 0.80 to 0.92. trong correlation were found between clinical characteritic and the AQE (total core and ubcale core).
Concluion
The AQE howed good pychometric propertie that are in line with thoe of the original intrument. Thi, combined with trong correlation between AQE core and clinical characterization of the participant, etablihe the AQE a a ueful tool for ue in population with trabimu and/or amblyopia.
