Abstract :
Purpoe To decribe corneal higher-order wavefront aberration of clinically inconpicuou fellow eye in patient with early keratoconu (KC). Deign Propective comparative cae erie, conducted at a univerity eye hopital outpatient clinic. Method Twenty-three eye (group 1) were newly diagnoed with KC; 10 eye (group 2) were aymptomatic fellow eye that howed neither major topographic anomaly nor clinical ign of KC; 127 healthy eye of 74 patient erved a negative control (group 3). A eventh-order Zernike decompoition of firt-urface aberration wa performed. ingle Zernike coefficient, higher-order aberration root mean quare (HOA RM) value, the Z3 index and the output value of dicriminant analyi D13 (with input from group 1 and 3) and D23 (group 2 and 3) were aeed for their uefulne to dicriminate between clinically normal fellow eye, KC eye and control by plotting receiver-operating characteritic (ROC) curve. Reult There were ignificant difference between group 1 and group 3 for 11 Zernike coefficient, Z3, total HOA RM, coma RM and third-order RM. Group 2 and 3 howed ignificant difference only for the coefficient Z3−1 and Z5−1. Z3−1, D13, and D23 dicriminated between group 1 and 3 with maximum enitivity and pecificity. For dicrimination between group 2 and 3, D23 turned out to be the bet parameter (Az ROC = 0.98), followed by Z3−1 (Az ROC = 0.96). Concluion Clinically normal fellow eye of eye with early KC howed ignificant difference of firt-urface aberration compared to normal eye and could therefore be conidered a eye with ubclinical KC.
