Abstract :
Purpoe To evaluate the corneal topographic pattern of Aian patient with keratoconu (KC). Deign Propective obervational cae-control tudy. Method ETTING: Intitutional. TUDY POPULATION: A total of 116 patient (both eye included) with KC were recruited. The control group conited of 70 laer in-itu keratomileui (LAIK) candidate with myopia. Patient with previou ocular urgery and trauma were excluded. OBERVATION PROCEDURE: Corneal topography wa performed uing the Tomey KC creening ytem (Topographic Modeling ytem, oftware verion 2.4.2J, Tomey Corp, Nagoya, Japan) and Orbcan II corneal topography ytem (Bauch & Lomb urgical, Orbtek Inc, alt Lake City, Utah, UA). main outcome meaure: Videokeratographic variable were analyzed and the eye were grouped into KC, KC upect, and control group. Reult The corneal topographic pattern of 196 eye were analyzed. The topographic pattern diplayed by Tomey (TM-2N) and Orbcan II were imilar. The majority of eye with KC (71.2%) and KC upect (70%) had aymmetric bowtie pattern. Thirteen indice of TM-2N were analyzed and the mean of the indice were found to be ignificantly higher in eye in the KC group than the KC upect group (P < .001). Fourteen indice of Orbcan II were analyzed. Eye in the KC upect group had higher mean poterior elevation (46 ± 17 μm), 3 mm irregularity (2.44 ± 1.36 diopter [D]), 5 mm irregularity (2.61 ± 1.19 D) and had thinner cornea (mean 504.4 ± 40.4 μm) than normal eye (26 ± 8 μm, 1.05 ± 0.37 D, 1.38 ± 0.39 D, and 554.0 ± 25.0 μm, repectively). Concluion Corneal topography pattern recognition combined with quantitative diagnotic indice i ueful for the creening and claification of KC with the Orbcan II being more enitive in creening for KC than TM-2N.
