Abstract
Purpoe
In eye with primary angle cloure (PAC), we quantitatively evaluated anterior bowing of the iri by mean of ultraound biomicrocopy (UBM).
Deign
Retropective, obervational, and conecutive cae erie.
Method
A total of 203 phakic eye with PAC that had not undergone any urgical or laer treatment were included. Uing UBM, we meaured anterior chamber depth (ACD) and iri convexity (IC): the maximum ditance from the poterior urface of the iri to the iri plane paing through the pupillary margin of the iri and iri root.
Reult
The average IC wa 0.22 ± 0.1 mm, although there wa coniderable individual variation. The IC value wa correlated weakly, albeit ignificantly, with age (r = 0.22, P < .01), and trongly with ACD (r = −0.57, P < .0001).
Concluion
In eye with PAC, older age and a more hallow ACD appear to be important caue of increaed forward bowing of the iri reulting from pupillary block.
