Abstract
Purpoe
To determine the incidence of autoimmune dieae in Japanee patient with ocular adnexal lymphoid proliferation.
Deign
Cae erie tudy.
Method
The author invetigated the incidence of autoimmune dieae in 88 patient with primary ocular adnexal lymphoid proliferation. outhern blot analyi wa ued to determine the preence of B-cell clonality in reactive lymphoid hyperplaia (RLH) aociated with autoimmune dieae.
Reult
Hitopathologic analyi indicated that 15 (17%) patient had RLH, 62 (70%) patient had mucoa-aociated lymphoid tiue lymphoma (MALToma), and 11 (13%) patient had primary lymphoma. The incidence of autoimmune dieae wa even (47%) of 15 patient with RLH, two (3%) of 62 patient with MALToma, and zero (0%) of 11 patient with primary lymphoma. B-cell clonality wa detected in one (14%) of even RLH patient with autoimmune dieae.
Concluion
Ocular adnexal RLH with or without B-cell clonality i highly aociated with autoimmune dieae.
