Abstract :
Purpoe To evaluate the natural coure of intraocular preure (IOP) and foveal thickne during the potoperative period, and the correlation between them. Deign Propective obervational cae erie. Method Thi intitutional tudy compried 30 eye of 30 cataract patient cheduled for phacoemulification. IOP and foveal thickne by optical coherence tomography (OCT) were meaured preoperatively and three, ix, nine, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24 hour, five day, one month, and two month potoperatively. Reult The IOP wa 4.7 ± 2.4 mm Hg at three hour potoperatively. The IOP increaed to 23.4 ± 8.1 mm Hg at ix hour and 23.5 ± 7.3 mm Hg at nine hour potoperatively. The IOP wa 1.9 mm Hg lower at one month or two month potoperatively than preoperatively. The foveal thickne wa 202.1 ± 19.2 μm and ignificantly higher at three hour potoperatively, and wa 182.3 ± 20.5 μm, 183.2 ± 22.3 μm, and ignificantly lower at nine and 12 hour potoperatively than preoperatively. The correlation between mean IOP and mean foveal thickne i tatitically ignificant. Fovea thickne (micron) = 207.0476 − 1.019759 × IOP (mm Hg), P value < .0001, adjuted R2 = .8699. Concluion We found initial hypotony, an IOP pike during ix to nine hour, and a decreae of IOP at one month and two month potoperatively. An initial increae of the foveal thickne, a ignificant reduction at nine hour and 12 hour, and an equivocal increae at one month or two month potoperatively were alo noted. A ignificant negative correlation between IOP and foveal thickne wa hown.
