Abstract :
Purpoe To compare noninvaive tear menicu height (NI-TMH) uing a tear interference device in normal ubject and dry eye patient with jögren yndrome (), and to invetigate the applicability of thi new method before and after the punctal occluion procedure. Deign Propective cae control tudy. Method Tear menicu wa viualized noninvaively uing a tear interference device (Tearcope plu, Keeler, Windor, United Kingdom). Tear interference image wa captured with digital video camera (P-321, JFC ale Plan Co, Tokyo, Japan) attached to the lit-lamp. Lower lid margin NI-TMH wa meaured uing image analyi oftware. NI-TMH of 28 eye from 17 normal ubject and 46 eye from 27 aqueou tear deficiency (ATD) dry eye patient with were compared. The change of NI-TMH three week after the ucceful punctal occluion wa examined in 11 eye of eight dry eye ubject. Reult Tear menicu wa well viualized with the tear interference device in all cae. Lower lid margin NI-TMH wa 0.22 ± 0.065 mm in normal ubject, and 0.13 ± 0.042 mm in ubject, repectively (P < .0001). After the punctal occluion, lower lid margin NI-TMH increaed ignificantly from 0.12 ± 0.026 mm to 0.42 ± 0.21 mm (P = .001). Concluion NI-TMH wa ubtantially lower in ubject and alo ignificantly improved after punctal occluion. Thi method i expected to be helpful in the diagnoi and in the evaluation of the efficacy of punctal occluion in ATD dry eye uch a .
