Abstract
Purpoe
To ae the relation of arterial blood preure (BP) and intraocular preure (IOP) in an adult population not uing glaucoma medication.
Deign
Cro-ectional population-baed tudy.
Method
The Beijing Eye tudy 2006, a population-baed, cro-ectional cohort tudy, included 3,253 ubject (age, 45 year or more). The mean age wa 60.4 ± 10.1 year. eated BP and applanation tonometric IOP were meaured, and their relation wa aeed in regreion model.
Reult
After excluion of ubject who had cloed anterior chamber angle and an IOP of more than 21 mm Hg or who were receiving topical antiglaucomatou treatment, the tudy included 2,981 ubject. In multivariate regreion analyi, IOP wa correlated ignificantly with ytolic BP (P < .001; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.011 to 0.022), diatolic BP (P < .001; 95% CI, 0.008 to 0.029), central corneal thickne (P < .001; 95% CI, 0.031 to 0.037), and myopic refractive error (P = .006; 95% CI, −0.103 to −0.015). Neither age (P = .17) nor body ma index (P = .20) were ignificantly aociated with IOP.
Concluion
IOP i aociated ignificantly with ytolic and diatolic BP.
