To report the prevalent form of childhood trabimu.
Deign
Retropective, population-baed cohort tudy.
Method
The medical record of all Olmted County, Minneota, reident younger than 19 year diagnoed with eotropia, exotropia, or hypertropia from January 1, 1985 through December 31, 1994, were reviewed.
Reult
ix hundred twenty-even new cae of childhood trabimu were identified during the 10-year tudy period, including 380 (60.1%) with eotropia, 205 (32.7%) with exotropia, and 42 (6.7%) with hypertropia. The five mot common form of trabimu included accommodative eotropia (27.9%), intermittent exotropia (16.9%), acquired nonaccommodative eotropia (10.2%), eotropia in children with an abnormal central nervou ytem (7.0%), and convergence inufficiency (6.4%).
Concluion
Thi tudy provide population-baed data on the mot prevalent form of childhood trabimu. Accommodative eotropia, intermittent exotropia, and acquired nonaccommodative eotropia were the predominant form of trabimu in thi Wetern population.
