Abstract :
Purpoe
To report endothelial cell denity (ECD) after poterior lamellar keratoplaty (PLK).
Deign
Propective, interventional cae erie.
Method
In a ingle intitution, PLK wa performed in 15 eye of 15 patient with peudophakic bullou keratopathy (PPBK), Fuch endothelial dytrophy (FED), or both. In 11 eye, the donor tiue wa inerted unfolded through a 9.0-mm clerocorneal inciion. In four eye, the donor wa folded and inerted through a 5.0-mm inciion. The ECD meaurement were performed in each patient at regular interval until three year after urgery, and then in all patient imultaneouly at 54 to 84 month after urgery.
Reult
Three patient were not available for follow-up. One graft had decompenated. In the remaining 11 eye, ECD ranged from 368 to 1576 cell/mm2. Monophaic and biphaic regreion model of ECD againt time were fitted for each technique eparately.
Concluion
After PLK, ECD declined at a high rate. Both early- and longer-term lo rate may be related to urgical technique.
