Abstract
Purpoe
The ue of indocyanine green (ICG) during intraoperative internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling i common for variou macular dieae. The author oberved reidual ICG after vitrectomy for high myopia-related macular dieae and found a unique pattern pecific to it pathologic feature.
Deign
Obervational cae erie.
Method
Twelve eye of 12 patient with high myopia who had undergone vitrectomy with ICG-aited ILM peeling were included (macular hole [MH], ix eye; MH and retinal detachment, three eye; and myopic foveochii, three eye). Pattern of reidual ICG were oberved in the poterior retina uing the Heidelberg Retina Angiograph 2 (Heidelberg Engineering, Heidelberg, Germany) after urgery and were compared. The minimum follow-up wa ix month. Two control eye of two patient without intravitreal ICG alo were included in thi tudy.
Reult
The reidual ICG fluorecence wa oberved in all eye except for the control eye. The pattern of reidual ICG fluorecence depended on the degree of myopic chorioretinal atrophy. In eye with no or minimum chorioretinal atrophy, the pattern wa imilar to that of an idiopathic MH. The ICG pattern wa unique in thoe with moderate or evere atrophy. A trong ICG ignal wa oberved at the area of diffue atrophy and at the edge of the patchy atrophy and taphyloma. No ICG fluorecence wa oberved inide the patchy atrophy.
Concluion
Reidual ICG fluorecence wa oberved in high myopia. ICG accumulation eem to depend on the tatu of the retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) underlying the poterior retina. RPE cell may play an important role in the kinetic of the reidual ICG.
