Abstract :
Purpoe
To ae repeatability, reproducibility, and agreement of rotating cheimpflug camera (Pentacam Oculu, Wetzlar, Germany) and ultraound pachymetry in meauring central thickne of keratoconic cornea.
Deign
Method-comparion tudy.
Method
In 33 patient with keratoconu (one eye per patient), two examiner each ued both pachymetric method to meaure central corneal thickne (CCT); in the ame eion, meaurement then were repeated by examiner 1 (A.M.). The difference between two examiner, and between firt and econd meaurement by examiner 1, with both method and the difference between the two pachymetric method in meauring central thickne of keratoconic cornea were noted.
Reult
With the rotating cheimpflug camera, interexaminer correlation wa higher (intra-cla correlation coefficient [ICC], 0.98 v 0.76) and inter-examiner variability wa lower (95% limit of agreement [95% LoA], −14.8 to 13.8 μm v −18.0 to +49.5 μm) than with ultraound pachymetry. Both method howed cloe firt- to econd-meaurement correlation (ICC, > 90), but the rotating cheimpflug camera had lower variability (95% LoA, −14.5 to 14.2 μm v −27.4 to 26.0 μm). Mean CCT wa 478.9 ± 34.6 μm with the rotating cheimpflug camera and 486.6 ± 30 μm with ultraound pachymetry. Although the mean difference wa mall (−7.8 μm), the 95% LoA (−43.8 to 28.2 μm) howed that the difference between the two method can be coniderable.
Concluion
In keratoconic cornea, the rotating cheimpflug camera provide meaurement of central thickne that are more reproducible and repeatable than thoe obtained with ultraound pachymetry. The rotating cheimpflug camera eem to be uitable for dieae taging and follow-up, when corneal thickne meaurement may be repeated over time by different examiner.
