Abstract :
Purpoe To ae the optical coherence tomography (OCT) characteritic of eye with peritent clinically ignificant diabetic macular edema (PDME) after focal laer treatment, with emphai on the vitreomacular interface (VMI) characteritic. Deign Propective, obervational cae erie. Method Fifty eye with PDME after at leat one focal laer treatment were enrolled propectively. lit-lamp biomicrocopy, tereocopic fundu photography, fluorecein angiography (FA), and OCT were performed for each eye. The main outcome meaure included the detection rate of VMI abnormalitie (VMIA) by OCT in comparion with biomicrocopy, fundu photography, and FA (traditional technique); the relationhip between VMIA and the number of focal laer eion per eye and FA leakage pattern. Reult Two of 50 eye were excluded becaue of incomplete data. For the remaining 48 eye, 25 eye (52.1%) demontrated definite VMIA, including anomalou vitreal adheion, epiretinal membrane (ERM), or both, and ix eye (12.5%) had quetionable VMIA. OCT in general wa 1.94 time more enitive than traditional technique combined in detecting VMIA (P = .00003). The number of focal laer eion and diffue FA leakage were not aociated with an increaed prevalence of VMIA (P = .13 and P = .47, repectively). Concluion Thi tudy demontrate a high prevalence of VMIA in eye with PDME after focal laer treatment and undercore the uperiority of OCT in detecting thee abnormalitie. OCT evaluation of eye with PDME may be helpful in identifying VMIA, which may impact treatment election and patient ubgroup tratification.
