Ranibizumab for Predominantly Claic Neovacular Age-related Macular Degeneration: ubgroup Analyi of Firt-year ANCHOR Reult

Purpoe ubgroup data from a pivotal phae 3 tudy comparing ranibizumab (LUCENTI) with verteporfin (VIUDYNE) photodynamic therapy (PDT) in patient with predominantly claic choroidal neovacularization (CNV) econdary to age-related macular degeneration (AMD) were retropectively analyzed to identify patient and dieae characteritic that may predict viual acuity (VA) treatment outcome. Deign Retropective ubgroup analyi of 12-month data from the ANCHOR tudy. Method Univariate analye were performed to ae VA outcome acro ubgroup baed on patient’ gender and baeline age, VA core, CNV leion ize, CNV leion type, and duration of neovacular AMD, followed by multivariate analye to identify predictor of the VA core change from baeline at 12 month. main outcome meaure: Proportion of patient loing <15 letter and proportion gaining ≥15 letter from baeline VA; mean change from baeline VA. Reult On average, all ubgroup of ranibizumab-treated patient did better than PDT patient for all three VA outcome meaure. In the multivariate analyi, lower baeline VA core, maller baeline CNV leion ize, and younger baeline age were aociated with greater gain of letter with ranibizumab treatment and le lo of letter with PDT. Concluion ubgroup analyi of 12-month data from the ANCHOR tudy howed ranibizumab to be uperior to PDT in all ubgroup evaluated, and wa conitent with the ubgroup analyi of 24-month data from the other pivotal phae 3 tudy of ranibizumab (MARINA) in howing that the mot important predictor of VA outcome were, in decreaing order of impact, the patient’ baeline VA core, CNV leion ize, and age.
