Abstract :
Purpoe
To decribe the prevalence and incidence of lo of viual field among patient with birdhot chorioretinopathy (BCR) and to decribe the effect of therapy on uch field lo in thee patient.
Deign
Retropective cohort tudy.
Method
etting: ingle-center, academic practice. tudy population: Fifty-five patient with BCR evaluated from January 1984 through July 2006. procedure: Demographic, clinical, and viual field data were collected retropectively. outcome meaure: Viual field lo i defined a an abnormal viual field core on Goldmann perimetry within ix month of preentation and during follow-up; rate of viual field lo i defined a the number of degree lot per year.
Reult
Forty-eight eye of 24 patient had Goldmann viual field performed within ix month of preentation and of thee eye, 75% and 56% had abnormal field core for the I-4 and IV-4 iopter, repectively. Of the 28 eye of 14 patient that received immunouppreive drug therapy during the follow-up period, the rate of viual field “lo” prior to treatment wa 107 degree/year (95% confidence interval [CI]: 65, 148 degree/year) and 56 degree/year (95% CI: 5, 109 degree/year) for the I-4 and IV-4 iopter, repectively. The rate of “gain” after intitution of immunouppreive drug therapy wa 53 degree/year (95% CI: 10 degree lot/year, 98 degree gained/year) and 30 degree/year (95% CI: 20 degree lot/year, 81 degree gained/year) for each iopter.
Concluion
Viual field lo wa common among our patient with BCR. Uage of immunouppreive drug therapy may revere ome of the viual field lo while therapy i employed.
