Elongation of Photoreceptor Outer egment in Central erou Chorioretinopathy Original Reearch Article

Purpoe To invetigate photoreceptor egment morphologic change at the detached retina in central erou chorioretinopathy (CC). Deign Obervational cae erie. Method We meaured and compared the ditance between the internal limiting membrane (ILM) and the external limiting membrane (ELM), between the ELM and the photoreceptor inner and outer egment junction (I/O) at the central fovea, and the length of the longet outer egment in 20 conecutive CC eye and 10 normal eye on Fourier domain optical coherence tomography (FD-OCT) image. We evaluated the correlation between the length of the outer egment and age, bet-corrected viual acuity (BCVA), and ymptom duration in CC eye and the correlation between retinal thickne from the ILM to ELM and the other parameter. Reult The median ditance between the ILM and ELM wa 75 μm in the CC eye and wa ignificantly (P = .0001) horter than the median 135 μm in normal eye. The median ditance between the ELM and I/O wa 35 μm in normal eye and CC eye. The median longet outer egment length in CC eye wa 90 μm and wa ignificantly (P = .01) longer than the 60 μm in normal eye. The outer egment length wa not or weakly correlated with age (r = 0.38), BCVA (r = 0.09), or ymptom duration (r = 0.19). The ditance between the ILM and ELM wa weakly correlated with age (r = 0.34), BCVA (r = 0.34), or ymptom duration (r = 0.28). Concluion FD-OCT howed elongation of photoreceptor outer egment and decreaed thickne of the outer nuclear layer in CC.
