Comparion of Poterior Capule Opacification After Two Different urgical Method of Cataract Extraction Original Reearch Article

Purpoe To compare the extent of poterior capule opacification (PCO) after AquaLae and NeooniX phacoemulification method uing two type of oftware for PCO quantification. Deign Propective, randomized clinical trial. Method At the Department of Ophthalmology, Univerity Hopital in Hradec Králové, 50 patient (100 eye) were analyzed one year after urgery. AquaLae wa ued in the right eye and NeooniX in the left eye of each patient. One year after urgery, digital retroillumination photograph of anterior egment were obtained. The Evaluation of Poterior Capule Opacification (EPCO) 2000 oftware (Berlin, Germany) and the Open-Acce ytematic Capule Aement (OCA) ytem (Edinburgh, United Kingdom) were ued for PCO aement. Bet-corrected nellen viual acuity (BCVA) wa evaluated before and after urgery. tatitical analyi wa performed uing parametric tet. Reult The EPCO 2000 reult were a follow: mean value for right eye, 0.324 ± 0.305; mean value for left eye, 0.298 ± 0.341; no difference wa proved (P = .532). The OCA reult were a follow: for right eye, 0.7097 ± 0.3777; for left eye, 0.8584 ± 0.4323; ignificant difference (P = .046), wore for left eye. No correlation between EPCO 2000 and OCA reult wa etablihed (P > .001; correlation coefficient, 0.347). BCVA for the right eye wa 0.837 ± 0.262 and for the left eye wa 0.849 ± 0.224. Neodymium:yytrium–aluminum–garnet capulotomy wa performed in one eye in the NeooniX group, and in no eye in the AquaLae group. Concluion There wa no ignificant difference in PCO meaured by EPCO 2000, however, PCO after AquaLae a aeed by EPCO 2000 wa lightly dener. The OCA ytem gave ignificantly higher core in the NeooniX group. No correlation between EPCO 2000 and OCA outcome wa proved.
