Abstract :
Purpoe To evaluate the effect of the blue light–filter intraocular lene (IOL) in vitrectomy combined with cataract urgery, focuing on the urgeon’ ability to perform pecific vitreoretinal procedure and on the patient’ outcome. Deign Randomized clinical trial. Method ixty patient, recruited from our outpatient department, were aigned randomly to receive an ultraviolet-filter IOL (clear IOL group) or a blue light–filter IOL (yellow IOL group) combined with a vitreoretinal procedure. Main outcome meaure were intraoperative condition for the urgeon and the functional outcome. econd outcome meaure were complication rate and vitreoretinal diagnoe. Reult The quetionnaire repone howed that the blue light–filter IOL did not repreent an impediment to vitreoretinal urgery (P > .05). No intraoperative complication were encountered in either group. Patient in both IOL group howed comparable functional reult with repect to viual acuity, contrat enitivity, color viion, and glare effect (P > .05). The functional outcome wa influenced ignificantly by the vitreoretinal diagnoi (P < .01). Concluion With the poible advantage of macular protection and no intraoperative or functional diadvantage, the routine ue of the blue light–filter IOL in combined urgery can be recommended.
